Happy Earth day!

Hey Everybody!  Ellen here!

Linden came home from school today and told me that today is Earth Day!  She said they have been talking about it a lot at school and was really excited to go out and do something fun.

Mama found a fun outdoor scavenger hunt on her computer so we went to a local park to begin our hunt.  Some of the things on the list were pretty easy like clouds, grass and dirt.  But some of them were really tricky like spider, bee and butterfly.  We tried really hard but we didn't find them all.

Mama brought stampers with for us to use to mark when we found something.  She also brought grocery bags so we could pick up garbage and help keep our park clean.  We found a lot of candy wrappers, water bottles, and paper.

Before heading to the park Mama wanted to take a picture, but it was REALLY sunny so it didn't turn out very well.

Oh well, we got to play at the park and enjoy this beautiful day!

Did you do anything to celebrate Earth Day?

Nature Date with Mama

Mama usually takes some time off from work on her birthday, but because the weather hasn't been great this year she decided to take off a couple days early so we could enjoy a beautiful April Day!

Mama decided to leave Ellen at daycare to take a nap, and Daddy stayed at work, so it was just me and Mama.  She decided we should go for a nature walk at Kaplan's Woods.  It was the PERFECT date!

Kaplan's Woods is a big park in Owatonna that is full of dirt trails and lots of places to explore.  Mama told me that I got to be the leader and she would follow me anywhere I wanted to go as long as it was safe.

Not only did Mama bring our rain boots to wear (it was REALLY muddy), but she also brought a bag so we could collect things!  I really wanted to find pine cones, but turns out there weren't any pine trees so I had to settle for sticks, rocks, acorns, and leaves.  I made sure we found the best chuppy sticks...Mama tried really hard to find a good chuppy stick, she just didn't seem to understand what it was...

In the end we had a bag full of great stuff and we decided that we should use it to make a campfire this summer.

I sure love hanging out with Mama!
