When is Baby Coming?

Hey Everybody!  Ellen Here!

A LONG time ago Mama told us that she was going to have a baby, and we have been patiently waiting for her to come, for WAY too LONG!!!!!!!  But Mama said that is about to change.

Today she decided to update our calendar for January and Daddy decided it would be fun for us to take guesses about when baby is coming, Mama said it was going to be one of the days on the calendar.

The doctor's guess is that the baby will come on the 29th, but we made the following guesses:
  • January 12th - Ellen
  • January 15th - Daddy
  • January 16th - Linden
  • January 18th - Mama

We'll see who is closest!  We can't wait!

Wanna Go Skate?

Hey Everybody!  Ellen Here!

Today Mama and Daddy asked, "Girls, do you wanna go skate?" I wasn't sure what that meant, but Linden sure was excited so I decided I'l go along too.

A few weeks ago we went to the skate shop and rented skates so when Daddy pulled them out of the bag I was REALLY excited!  Mama and Daddy helped me get my skates on and laced up nice and tight.

Because it was my first time, Daddy thought I should wear my bike helmet.  I thought it was kind of silly because I wasn't going to ride my bike, but Daddy said that I had to wear it so I did.

When I first got on the ice it was REALLY slippery and I was sliding all over the place holding Daddy's hand.  I was trying really hard, but I was not having a lot of fun.

Linden, on the other hand, was having a GREAT time.  She took skating lessons last year so she is a pro.

She had a friend who was new to skating so she helped her friend out by pushing her around and helping her learn to glide.

After a while a blue pusher opened up so Daddy let me give it a try.  Once I got to use that, I was having a BLAST gliding and sliding all over the ice.

Mama said that I am too brave, and a little over confident, I don't know what that means.  By the end of our time there I was trying to skate around without holding on at all!

Poor Mama couldn't come on the ice today, she said it was too dangerous for baby in case she fell, so she sat on the side and took pictures of us.

When we were done Mama asked if I had fun, I replied, "No, it was too dangerous, I didn't like it".  She thought it was a pretty silly answer because I was one of the last kids off of the ice.

I sure hope we get to come back soon, we all had a great time!

Home Designers

Hey Everybody!  Ellen here!

Christmas is my favorite time of year, and this weekend we got to decorate Gingerbread Houses!!

Mama got us these cute little houses, tubes of frosting, and TONS of candy.  Linden said that we shouldn't eat the candy, but I was quite certain that she was just teasing me.

Decorating houses is a very serious job, and Mama made sure to get lots of pictures.

Off to bed, I'll have to tell you about our cookie baking a different night.

It's Science Time!

It's that time of year again, time for the Science Fair!!

I don't know why, but once again this year the letter got sent home for the science fair and Mama did not seem nearly as excited about it as I did...None the less, Mama and Daddy and I got to work coming up with the perfect project.

This year was a little rocky...our first science project was to see if the color of the water would affect the temperature.  It was a really great idea that Daddy found, I got to use food coloring, and a thermometer, but unfortunately it never got sunny out so we couldn't set the jars outside to see if anything would happen.

We gave that project several tries and then Mama came up with the idea to see if the color of the water would affect the color of a flower.  I wasn't super excited at first because I wanted something that we could do in a night, I wasn't in the mood to wait around for days to see if a flower would change color, but we were out of time so I agreed to do it.

Once again, the project started off a little rocky.  First we could only find white carnations, and they were SLOW and barely changed color.  Next Daddy found white button mums, they were a little faster but still didn't get very colorful.  Then, Daddy came home with the best flowers yet, white daisies!!  They were perfect.

I put three flowers in each color (red, yellow, and blue) for a day, then I took two of the flowers and moved them to another jar for another day.  I was really surprised when the colors mixed together and made secondary colors!  This project turned out to be pretty fun, I got to use the stuff we are learning about in art and applied the color wheel here.

Putting together my display board was a lot of work, and a LOT of writing.  but i think it turned out pretty great.

On Thursday the judges came around and asked me about my project.  They could tell that I put a lot of hard work into it, and said that I did a great job presenting it.  In the end, first graders don't really get judged, but we all got really cool ribbons.  I was very proud of all of my hard work.

Off to bed, another fun day is waiting for us tomorrow!

Fall for Fall!

We have had a rather cold fall this year so playing in the leaves just hasn't worked out, but the other day Mama got out of work and it was too beautiful to not play outside.

Our tree is getting a lot bigger, but we still don't have enough to make a huge pile, so we decided to help our neighbor out and we raked up his leaves to add to our pile.

We sure had a great time, though it was a bummer none of our friends could come over to play.  Turns out the most beautiful day was also a busy day for everybody.

None the less, we can always find a way to have a great time.  Ellen made up a game of Find my Shoes and Find my Ball (Mama didn't really like the first one very much).

It wasn't long before the sun went down and we had to go inside again.  Hopefully we get a few more warm days to play outside.

Have a great night,
Linden

Fall Fun

This fall has been a crazy weather roller coaster which has forced us to give up on some traditions and find other ways to have fun.

One tradition we didn't get in was jumping in the leaves with my good friend Kaiya.  She has a BIG maple tree and usually get a huge leaf pile...but this year we had to cancel because the wind would not stop blowing, and the snow started falling early.

It might not have been a lot, but we made the best of it, and even got a little snowman!

October also brought Halloween, which I shared about last week, but to help celebrate my cousins, Mackenzie and Maverick, came down to play with us!

October also brought my first real sleepover at a friend's house!!  My good friend Molly invited me over for a night during MEA break.  We made plans a week or so in advance so we had TONS of time to plan out what we wanted to do and we got a great list going.  When the say finally came I was so excited that I couldn't wait for Molly to come pick me up.

Once we were at Molly's house our plans were quickly put into action!  We ate pizza, made posters, watched some movies, and had a great time!

Eventually we had to go to bed, which was Ok because we first made signs and we got to sleep in our very own Hotel!

We might have stayed up a tiny bit too late, and woke up way too early, but we had a TON of fun.

Now that November is here, I can't wait to have more fun.

Halloween 2017

Happy Halloween!  Ellen Here!

Today is the day I have been waiting for ALL month!! A few weeks ago we went to the store to buy Halloween costumes and ever since then I have been counting the days until we could go trick-or-treating.

We had such a great day.  Linden had tons of Halloween fun at school today.  Mama went in and put on a fun party for her classroom, they got to play a game where they got wrap each other up like mummies!

We had an equally awesome day at daycare today too!  We got to decorate pumpkins, play games, and Mama made us a spider cake!

As soon as we got home we wanted to go out trick or treating immediately, but Mama said that we had to wait until after dinner.  This year, Linden wanted to be a snow princess fairy.  She got to carve her pumpkin by herself this year, I think she did a pretty amazing job.

I wanted to be Rapunzel this year.  Daddy helped me decorate my pumpkin and I think it turned out perfect!

Linden was not happy that it was so cold out.  Mama said that because it was only 30 degrees we had to wear our coats over our pretty dresses.  It worked out Ok, but it was still a bummer.  Mama made up for it by painting our nails, getting us some fun face paint, and glitter hairspray!!

We decorated a lot of pumpkins this year.  The one on the far left in the background is the one I decorated at daycare today.  The next two were from Daddy's work Halloween party.  and the one on the right is the one Linden carved.

This is Mama's family pumpkin, one of our favorite songs right now is Five Little Pumpkins Sitting on a Gate.

Mama and Daddy did two pumpkins this year.  Mama's silly face was super cute, and Daddy made a spooky ghost pumpkin.

Last, but not least, Daddy's spider pumpkin, and my ooky spooky pumpkin.  Mama found some great markers that worked really well on pumpkins so I got to do most of the decorating myself!

We got a TON of candy this year.

And even though it was cold, we had a TON of trick-or-treaters.

It was a great night, too bad it is over.

Happy Halloween!

A Room for Two Little Mermaids

A couple weeks ago Mama started talking about repainting and redecorating my room.  I was so excited, I couldn't wait to see what she had planned, but Mama after a few weeks Mama just was NOT making any progress.  Or so I thought.....

This morning Mama and Daddy told me that they had finished painting and decorating my room and asked if I wanted to see it.  I was really confused because I slept in my room last night, and it looked mostly normal this morning when I woke up (there were a few signs and some other things missing, but it was certainly the same color.

Well, Mama told me and Ellen to head downstairs, but when I turned the corner to go to my room Mama told me that I was going the wrong direction and pointed towards the office.  When I opened the door I sure was surprised!!

The FIRST thing I noticed was my new bed, I got Bunk Beds!!!!  And Ellen's pet was on the bottom bunk, that could only mean one thing...Not only did I get a new room, but Ellen did too!!  We get to share a room and I couldn't be more excited!

There are so many fun things decorating our new room.  I have been BEGGING for one of these fancy lights that I had seen at the mall.  Mama and Daddy picked a plain white one, but I sure was surprised when Daddy showed me that it has a color changing light bulb inside!

Mama found these cute little shelves, and she found me my very own Dinglehopper!

Below the cute shelves is a reading corner with some really fun pillow beds.  I thought it was really odd that, not once, but twice, we went to Target and got 5 pillows!  That is a LOT of pillows.  It didn't take long for me to realize what we needed them for.  Mama also hung my string art up, I am really proud of that project.

Once I climbed up into my bed I saw this beautiful dream catcher that Mama made for me.  She really is tricky, she had me help pick out some of the ribbon, and I didn't have a clue what she was going to use it for.

Mama took some stuff from our old room, and Ellen and I got to help paint new letters to hang on the wall.

When I was 3 Mama made my hand print to put on my wall...

So she decided that Ellen needed a hand print to put on the wall too.

Mama also made us this really fun mirror.  It has bubbles on it so it looks like we are under the water!  It also has some tiny starfish on it too!

In another corner Mama made some jellyfish and another bible verse sign.  Ellen and I love how squiggly they are!

Mama says that I normally don't give a very big reaction when I am excited, but this time, I did NOT disappoint.  I couldn't stop smiling and everywhere I looked there was something new to look at, I was so exicted!

Ellen is pretty excited to be sharing a room too, and she loves her bottom bunk.

Mama and Daddy didn't have much for plans today so we had plenty of time to play in our new room.  This is what it looked like when we walked in the door...

But it didn't look like that for long...

And in the end, it was a disaster!  But we sure had a great time.

I heard Mama and Daddy say that they aren't sure how bedtime is going to work, I don't see what could possibly go wrong!

Have a Great Night!
